Grade 3/4
Come Closer
Come closer,
little singing bird--
I want to see what
I have heard----------------come closer
Little singing
bird-----------
Flow freely, water
clear and sweet--
Splashing and
tickling my feet-------------------flow freely
Flow freely water clear and sweet------
You--- are the cool--- of the lake--- in the sum---mer
You are the shower that makes the grass green-------
Shin---y and cold---you’re the ice---that I skate------on
When the snow’s falling soft---and clean---------------
Stay longer,
warming rays of sun--
Reach down and
touch me as I run-------------stay longer
Warming rays of
sun------------------
Grow taller, tiny
budding tree--
‘til you’re ten
times as big as me-----------------grow taller
Grow taller tiny budding tree---------------
Will--- you remem---ber me when---I am old---er
And I come back to thisplace I once played?------
May---be the bird---will call out---from your branch---es
Songs so sweet I will wish I had stayed--------------
Come closer,
little singing bird--
I want to see what
I have heard----------------come closer
Come closer little singing
bird------------

On the Railroad
PART 1
I’ve been workin’
on the rail----road----
All the live long
day-----
Yes, I’ve been
workin’ on the rail---- road----
Just to pass the
time away-----
Can’t you hear the
whistle blow----in’-----
Rise up so early
in the morn?-------
Can’t you hear the
captain shout----in’-------
Dinah, blow your
horn?---------
Dinah, won’t you
blow?---- Dinah won’t you blow?------
Dinah, won’t you
blow your horn?-----^--^--^
Dinah, won’t you
blow?---- Dinah won’t you blow?------
Dinah, won’t you
blow your horn?---------
Someone’s in the
kitchen with Di---nah---
Someone’s in the
kitchen I know------------
Someone’s in the
kitchen with Di---nah---
Strummin’ on the old banjo, and playin’
Fee------ Fie-----
fiddle-ee-i-o-------
Fee Fie fiddle-ee-i-o-----------------
Fee------ Fie-----
fiddle-ee-i-o-------
Strummin’ on the
old banjo-----------
PART 2
All day long---
I’m workin’ on the railroad
Bringin’ in a
payload, passin’ time away
All night
long----I dream about the railroad
Drea----min’ till
the break of day
When I hear the
old red rooster crow---
And I hear the
morning whistle blow
Then I jump out of
bed and off i go----
Time to face
another morn------
Off to work------
Now we go------
In---the early
morn------
Off to work--- Don’t
be slow---
Lis---ten to the
bugler’s horn
Out in the
kitchen, I hear a banjo
Playin’ so soft
and low----------
Play me a happy melody
from a time so long a go
And playin’
A plunk-a, plunk-a, Play the little banjo
A plunk-a, plunk-a, Listen to him go----
Join right in and
plunk-a, plunk-a, plunk!
It’s the sweetest
sound I know----------
Grade 5
